Easter weekend saw U21 players from around the country contest the 2021-22 Terminator Mallets U21 GC Championships. In what was the last CNZ tournament of the season, there was plenty of excellent croquet on display.
The lads from Cashmere dominated the doubles competition. James Duggan and Joshua Winter combined to win 4 of their 5 round robin matches to reach the final, while their clubmates, Myles Duggan and Levi Franks also won 4 of 5 to set up an all Canterbury final.
Winter and J. Duggan secured bragging rights over their clubmates with a tense 7-5, 7-5, victory in the final to claim the 2021-22 doubles title.
With 13 players contesting the singles competition, play started with a single game round robin. The top eight qualifying for the knock-out stage.
Winter added another national trophy to his 2021-22 collection, defeating Mikey Lauer (Nelson) in the final 7-3, 6-7, 7-4, 7-4.
