Price wins first Women’s AC title, Bryant secures his 5th Men’s AC title.

Carissa Price (Manawatu-Wanganui) has secured her first Women’s AC Championship title after defeating Auckland’s Kathie Grant in the final on Sunday. Both Price and Grant reached Sunday’s final after winning 4 of their 5 Block games with Grant beating Price 22-13.
Price bounced back from this defeat to win the Best-of-Three final 2-0 (26-17, 26-5).

In the Men’s Championship, it was a familiar name lifting the trophy this year with Greg Bryant (West Coast) securing his 5th Men’s Championship. Bryant eased through the block stage, winning all 5 matches and completing triple peels in all but one.
Steve Jones (Manawatu-Wanganui) and Tony Stephens (Hawkes Bay) each secured three wins in block play. However, it was Jones who joined Bryant in the final thanks to his superior net-hoops.
Bryant secured his 5th title with a 2-0 (26-23, 26TP-9) victory.

Bryant’s singles victory ensured he would complete the double after he had earlier secured the Doubles Championship with partner Eleanor Ross (Nelson).
In a tight tournament, it was the final round victory over Grant and Stephens, 19-15, which sealed the Championship.
