Matamata Croquet Club played host to the Top 2 GC Invitations on the 2nd and 3rd of April with 6 players competing in each event.
In the Top GC Invitation, Brian Bullen (Wellington) emerged victorious after remaining undefeated in 5 matches. This included not dropping a single game and amassing an impressive +34 net hoops through 10 games. Manawatu-Wanganui’s Dennis Bulloch secured second with 4 wins from 5 matches.
Vanessa Hanna (Waikato-King Country) won the Second GC Invitation after winning 4 of her 5 matches. Only losing to the eventual runner-up, Jean Kent (Northland). Kent won 3 of her 5 matches and secured second on count-back over Pam Fisher (Waikato-King Country) who also won 3 matches.
At Rose Gardens Croquet Club in Palmerston North, it was local player Callum McKinnon who secured the title in the Third GC Invitation. Mckinnon won 6 of his 7 matches, only dropping the two games in the match he lost to another local, Amy Gust. In what was a tight contest, four players were tied for second with 4 wins each after the 7 rounds. However, Keelan MacFadyen (Canterbury) secured second place on count-back.
