The 2026 MacRobertson Shield will be played in England between 24th July and 9th August, 2026. Participation in the centenary series is likely to be a highlight for all those involved. To be eligible for the NZ team, players will need to play either the NZ Open Singles or the Top 8 Invitation in the 2024/25 season and at least the Top 8 in the 2025/26 season.
Players are expected to prioritise participation in these events to best support the team’s preparation. Any player unable to meet this requirement will need to apply, as early as possible prior to the relevant event(s), to the Chief Executive for an exemption. This request should outline the player’s circumstances (e.g. non-residence) that prevents them from meeting this requirement.
A squad of up to 10 players will be selected at the end of the 2024/25 season with the final team selection being made by the end of February, 2026. Form over the two preceding seasons will be given the most weight, in particular singles peeling performance against players above a 2100 DGrade.
Additional factors that selectors will consider include, but are not limited to; performance in the 2022 MacRobertson Shield Team (if applicable), the ability to contribute as a positive team member, world ranking and doubles pairing dynamics.
