Don Reyland was made a Croquet New Zealand Life Member at the Annual General Meeting held at the Brentwood Hotel, Wellington, on the 9th of October 2021.
Don has been a stalwart in the Hawkes Bay after beginning his croquet career in 1989. Don purchased an apple orchard which soon turned into Te Mata Croquet Club which is now known as Heretaunga Croquet Club.
During the early stages of Golf Croquet, Don was a leading figure promoting the game in New Zealand. This resulted in a rapid rise in membership at the club.
Nationally, Don served as one of the initial GC Selectors alongside fellow CNZ Life Members, Geoff Young and Gordon Smith. Don also served on the CNZ Executive as a Councillor for two years (2016-18).
Due to his commitment and success in helping establish Golf Croquet in New Zealand, the CNZ GC Handicap tournament is now named after him.
