Croquet New Zealand is the National Sporting Organisation for croquet in New Zealand. Croquet New Zealand has 19 affiliated Associations nationwide which represent 112 croquet clubs and over 4,700 individual members.
Since 2013/14, croquet membership in New Zealand has increased by over 22%. This has included a 75% increase in youth croquet (U19) in no small part due to the focus on developing the New Zealand Secondary Schools GC Championships.
Growth at the grassroots level has provided a strong platform for New Zealanders to compete on the world stage, regularly having New Zealand players and teams successfully competing for medals at World Championships.
This is a chance to work at the heart of Croquet New Zealand making a direct impact to the growth and future of the sport in New Zealand. Reporting into the Board, the CEO will play a key role in building and influencing key strategic relationships across the community including regional associations , clubs, players, volunteers, funders, and sponsors.
Due to the size of Croquet New Zealand, the CEO role requires a balance of leadership and direction with know-how and a willingness to support operations which includes:
- Leading and managing an engaged team including all aspects of staff resources
- Establishing and implementing with the team an annual operations plan that reflects the strategic direction of Croquet NZ
- Having responsibility for financial management including delivering and reporting on financial results
- Driving the marketing and communication of croquet as a sport for all and growing and developing the Croquet New Zealand brand
- Creating, developing and nurturing strong sustainable partnerships with funders and sponsors.
Ideally you will have at least two years of diversified experience leading a small organisation or committee where you have worked with senior management, CEO’s, Boards and Committees. You will be comfortable planning and prioritising multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines and bring evidence of your ability to develop strong relationships and multi stakeholder management.
Your passion for sport will set you above the rest along with your ability to move between strategic thinking and operational delivery. This role has the flexibility to be based anywhere within New Zealand allowing you to work from home, with the option of working a nine-day fortnight or four-day week a possibility.
