Arthur Ross Trophy returning to Wellington

Last years winner, Robbie Spooner, was on hand to watch his father follow in his footsteps as Matthew Spooner won the 2019-20 Arthur Ross Memorial Event Final in Dunedin on Sunday. Spooner’s win ensures the trophy returns to Wellington (and to the same household).

Spooner advanced from Block B to the Gold Playoff Block undefeated after winning all five of his games. He was joined in the Golf Playoff Block by Canterbury’s Josh Winter who won four of his games in Block B.

Block A saw Chris Shilling (Otago) and Carolyn Fordyce (South Canterbury) both win three games from four to advance to the Gold Playoff Block

Spooner and Winter won two or the three games played as part of the Gold Block meaning the tournament would be settled by net hoops. Spooner (+31) was awarded the win with Winter (+11) the runner-up.
