Croquet New Zealand believes that developing your skills within Association Croquet takes time, patience and dedication. As an incentive for Association Croquet players to improve their skills, CNZ introduced the CNZ AC Merit Awards.
The aim of the AC Merit Awards is to;
- Encourage enterprising play.
- Raise the overall skill of players.
There are four (4) Awards that players can strive to achieve.
Bronze Merit Award
The Bronze Merit Award is awarded for the first occasion in a tournament that a player completes a break of 10 hoops or more (either with or without bisques).
Silver Merit Award
The Silver Merit Award is awarded for the first occasion in a tournament that a player makes a break of 12 hoops or more, without using bisques.
Gold Merit Award
The Gold Merit Award is awarded for the first occasion in a tournament that a player completes a triple peel.
Platinum Merit Award
The Platinum Merit Award is awarded for the first occasion in a tournament that a player completes a sextuple peel.
To be eligible for any of the Awards, the following criteria applies;
- The game must be a singles game.
- The player achieving the award must win the game.
- The game must be played on an approved sized lawn.
- Bisques can only be used when achieving the Bronze Merit Award, all other Awards must be completed without bisques.
- Hoops refers to any point scored by either of the players balls during that turn (i.e. peeling your partner ball or pegging out count)
- The Gold Merit Award can be either a triple peel with their own ball or a triple peel with their opponent’s ball provided they still win the game.
How to receive your award;
It is the responsibility of the individual to know the criteria of the Award; however, the tournament manager can apply for their award on an individual’s behalf.
To receive the Award, please send the following information to croquet@croquet.org.nz;
- Full name of the recipient.
- The award completed.
- The name of the tournament it was completed in.
- The score of the game it was completed in.
- The name of the opposition in the game it was completed in.
