The Don Reyland Stars trophy now joins the Arthur Ross trophy in Wellington following Colin Menzies win over the weekend in the Don Reyland Stars Final held at Rose Gardens Croquet Club in Palmerston North.
This year saw 16 entries, the largest field in several year, compete for the title.
After section play, the field was split into Top 8 and Second 8 for more games before eventually being split again into groups of four to find their final placings.
In the top four, Colin Menzies (Wellington) beat Brian Goodwin (South Canterbury) 7-6 in a tight semi-final. In the other semi-final, Peter Burt (Marlborough) emerged victorious over Arthur von Sturmer (Auckland) in another tight game, 7-6.
Having lost to Burt in the section play 7-6, Menzies was able to turn the tables, winning the final 7-5.
